The First Class Should Not Be the Last.
One Program. Countless Lives. Your Voice Can Make a Difference.
Rehabilitation Should Never Have an Expiration Date.
Behind prison walls, something meaningful is happening.
Men serving natural life and de facto life sentences are making a deliberate choice to invest in themselves, their futures, and their communities through T.R.I.P. — The Resident Investment Project.
Built around accountability, education, rehabilitation, and personal growth, T.R.I.P. provides opportunities to individuals who have too often been overlooked because of the length of their sentences.
These men are not asking anyone to forget their past. They are asking for the opportunity to demonstrate who they are becoming.
Through T.R.I.P., the word LIFER has taken on a new meaning:
L.I.F.E.R. — Living Intentionally For Earned Release.
The First Class Cannot Be the Final Chapter.
The inaugural T.R.I.P. class represents an investment in human potential. But the opportunity for meaningful change should not end when this first group completes its journey.
We are calling on families, friends, advocates, and community members to respectfully encourage the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and Illinois leadership to recognize the importance of T.R.I.P. and support its continuation for future participants.
Your voice can help make sure this opportunity remains available.

Step 3 — Send
Mail or otherwise deliver your completed letter to the appropriate Illinois official or representative.

Why Your Support Matters
When meaningful educational and rehabilitative opportunities are available, individuals have additional ways to practice accountability, develop leadership, strengthen self-awareness, and contribute positively to their communities.
A life sentence should not mean a life without purpose.
And one graduating class should not mark the end of an opportunity to grow.
A Message to Families and Friends
You have witnessed the struggles, the sacrifices, and, in many cases, the personal transformations of those you love.
You understand that change is not always measured by a release date.
Sometimes change is measured by responsibility accepted, relationships rebuilt, knowledge shared, and the determination to become better.
Your support can help ensure that these opportunities are not limited to one group of men.
Help Keep T.R.I.P. Moving Forward.
Download. Personalize. Send. Share.
Every voice matters. Every letter represents someone who believes accountability and rehabilitation deserve continued investment.
The first class opened the door. Together, we can advocate to keep that door open.
