Partners in life. Partners in purpose. Co-creators of From Conflict 2 Clarity.

“From Conflict 2 Clarity was not created from theory alone. It was created from lived experience.”

It was born from pain and accountability, love and perseverance, incarceration and transformation, and a shared belief that a human being should never be reduced to the worst chapter of his or her life.

We are Tony and Lori Dameron, creators of From Conflict 2 Clarity.

Our perspectives come from opposite sides of prison walls, but our purpose is shared:

To help people confront who they have been, discover who they are capable of becoming, and understand that accountability and redemption can exist in the same story.

We believe change must be more than something a person says.
It must become something a person lives.

Mentor · Program Developer · Lived-Experience Leader

Tony Dameron knows what it means for a single chapter of a person's life to become the headline by which the world knows him.

He also knows that the headline is not the whole story.

After approximately three decades of incarceration in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Tony's life has become centered on accountability, personal transformation, recovery, faith, mentorship, leadership, and service to others.

Tony does not approach redemption by attempting to erase his past. He approaches it by taking responsibility for it. That distinction is at the heart of From Conflict 2 Clarity.

His own journey has required him to examine trauma, addiction, destructive thinking, anger, identity, relationships, responsibility, purpose, and the consequences of his choices. Over time, that examination became something larger than his own personal growth.

It became a responsibility to help other men examine theirs.

Today, Tony serves as a mentor and T.R.I.P. Wing Mentor Support and has helped develop and facilitate programming designed to challenge incarcerated men to move beyond survival and begin intentionally building lives of responsibility, discipline, emotional awareness, community, leadership, and purpose.

His lived experience gives him the ability to speak to men not from across a desk, but from beside them. He understands prison culture. He understands hopelessness. He understands what happens when destructive thinking goes unchallenged.

And he understands that transformation rarely happens because someone simply tells another person to change.

Transformation begins when a person becomes willing to tell himself the truth.

Tony's work challenges men to consider
  • Who are you becoming?
  • What are you responsible for?
  • What patterns are controlling your life?
  • What will you do with the life you still have?

And perhaps most importantly: If your circumstances never change, will you?

For Tony, this work is not about presenting himself as a finished product. It is about continuing to become a better man while helping others recognize that they, too, remain capable of becoming more.

Lori Dameron

Program Developer · Advocate · Partner in Transformation

Lori Dameron's role in From Conflict 2 Clarity comes from a different side of the story.

She has witnessed what sustained transformation looks like when there are no guarantees attached to it. She has watched Tony continue doing the difficult work of accountability and personal growth while serving a life sentence—a circumstance in which change does not automatically produce freedom, recognition, or reward.

That experience profoundly shaped her belief in the importance of this work.

Lori believes accountability matters. She also believes accountability should not require society to permanently deny the humanity of the person being held accountable.

For her, redemption does not mean pretending harm never occurred. It means asking what happens after responsibility is accepted.

Can a person grow?

Can a person become trustworthy?

Can someone who once caused harm eventually become someone who prevents it?

Can lived experience become a tool for helping another person choose differently?

Lori believes the answer is yes.

Working alongside Tony, she has helped transform conversations, handwritten ideas, lived experiences, mentoring practices, and lessons developed inside prison into structured curricula and programs that can be taught, repeated, evaluated, and shared.

She also serves as a bridge between work happening inside the institution and the communities, organizations, advocates, families, and decision-makers outside of it.

Her role is not simply to tell Tony's story. It is to help create space for many stories of transformation to be seen.

Because From Conflict 2 Clarity is ultimately bigger than either of its creators. It belongs to every person willing to do the difficult work of becoming more than yesterday's choices.

Why We Created From Conflict 2 Clarity

We saw something happening that deserved to be cultivated.

Men were talking. Listening. Challenging one another. Mentoring one another. Taking responsibility. Examining trauma. Learning to recognize destructive thinking. Developing emotional intelligence. Building community. Discovering purpose.

And beginning to ask a different question.

Instead of

“How do I survive my time?”

They began asking

“Who do I want to become while I am here?”

That question became the foundation for something much larger.

From Conflict 2 Clarity grew into an expanding collection of programs focused on accountability, self-awareness, recovery, decision-making, emotional intelligence, leadership, community, mentorship, purpose, and personal transformation.

Our work is grounded in a simple principle:

How you do your time is your choice.

A prison sentence may determine where someone lives. It does not have to determine who that person becomes.

What We Believe

Ten convictions that shape this work.

01

We believe accountability and redemption belong in the same conversation.

02

We believe acknowledging harm and recognizing human potential are not contradictions.

03

We believe people must take responsibility for their choices.

04

We believe trauma may help explain behavior, but it does not excuse the harm caused by that behavior.

05

We believe transformation requires honesty.

06

We believe mentorship can interrupt destructive cycles.

07

We believe community creates accountability.

08

We believe purpose can exist in places where hope appears impossible.

09

We believe incarcerated people can become leaders, mentors, peacemakers, educators, and sources of positive change.

10

We believe rehabilitation should not simply be something institutions provide. It can become something people build together.

And above all, we believe no meaningful conversation about justice is complete without making room for both accountability and the possibility of transformation.

Two Sides of the Wall

One of the things that makes this work different is the partnership behind it.

Inside

Tony develops this work from inside prison.

He sees the challenges from inside the environment—housing units, culture, hopelessness, and the daily decisions that shape who a man is becoming.

Outside

Lori helps develop and carry it beyond prison walls.

She sees how incarceration, transformation, families, communities, advocacy, and public perception intersect outside of it.

Those perspectives do not always produce easy conversations. They produce necessary ones.

We challenge each other. We ask difficult questions. We refuse to build programming that simply sounds good on paper. We want it to work where conflict actually happens—in housing units, relationships, families, communities, classrooms, recovery, leadership, and the everyday decisions that determine who someone is becoming.

Our partnership reminds us constantly that transformation is both deeply personal and deeply relational.

People change themselves. But very few people change entirely by themselves.

This Work Is Personal

From Conflict 2 Clarity is not a claim that every person changes. It is a declaration that people can.

Change must be demonstrated.
Trust must be earned.
Accountability must be lived.
Growth must continue.

That is why our programs do not simply ask participants what they believe. They ask:

  • What are you practicing?
  • What are you choosing?
  • What are you contributing?
  • Who is different because you decided to become different?

Those questions apply to us, too.

We are still learning. Still building. Still listening. Still challenging ourselves. Still becoming.

And that may be the most important thing we can tell you about the creators of From Conflict 2 Clarity:

We are not standing at the finish line telling other people how to get there. We are walking the road ourselves—and inviting others to walk it with purpose.

From Conflict 2 Clarity

The headline tells what happened.
Redemption tells the whole story.

Accountability
for yesterday.
Responsibility
for today.
Purpose
for tomorrow.
